IGOR has integrated artificial intelligence into the way we research, analyse, interrogate evidence, test reasoning, develop hypotheses, synthesise information and deliver projects.

AI is not a product we sell. It is not a substitute for human expertise and it is not a requirement for every person working with us.

It is an additional capability within IGOR, used where it increases the quality, range or speed of the work.

AI-AUGMENTED INTELLIGENCE

AI has changed the amount of thinking we can do within a project.

It allows us to work through larger bodies of evidence, interrogate unfamiliar material, compare alternative explanations, identify contradictions, test assumptions and explore possibilities that would previously have required substantially more time.

Our people remain responsible for interpretation, judgement and decisions about what matters.

AI has not changed what IGOR thinks about. It has changed how much thinking IGOR can do.

AI adoption began at leadership level and has been progressively integrated across IGOR’s research, analysis, project delivery and organisational operations.

This means AI augmentation is not simply an individual productivity tool. It is becoming part of the capability IGOR can bring to a project.

We recognise that AI introduces questions of accuracy, bias, confidentiality, intellectual property, data governance, transparency and accountability.

IGOR uses AI within the requirements of the organisation and the context in which we are working. We consider what information can appropriately be used, what outputs require verification and where human judgement must remain decisive.

AI does not remove responsibility for the quality, provenance or consequences of the work. Those responsibilities remain with IGOR and the people undertaking the work.

HUMAN JUDGEMENT REMAINS CENTRAL

AI operates within organisational, ethical, information and governance constraints. Those constraints are part of the system in which we work.

We therefore treat AI as an augmentation of human capability rather than an autonomous decision-maker.

The value lies in the combination: human expertise, systems thinking, rigorous analysis and the additional capacity that AI can provide where it is appropriate.
