RAAF & DMO Continuous Improvement Program Panel

IGOR was appointed as a consultant to the RAAF and DMO Continuous Improvement Program Panel for an initial three-year period commencing in February 2009. The panel supported the Royal Australian Air Force and the Aerospace Systems Division (ASD) of the Defence Materiel Organisation in establishing and sustaining a program of continuous improvement across a period of significant financial constraint.

The program sought to develop “an Air Force with an adaptive culture, continuously improving capabilities, producing measurable and sustained improvement in effectiveness and efficiency.” It was established in response to a 5% budget reduction across the Australian Department of Defence, with the objective of ensuring that improvements in efficiency did not come at the expense of operational effectiveness or future capability.

Through the standing panel arrangement, IGOR provided access to specialist systems analysis and organisational improvement expertise to support Defence leaders in understanding performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing practical approaches to sustained organisational change.

The appointment placed IGOR within an ongoing improvement capability rather than a single project: enabling its expertise to be applied to emerging problems and opportunities across the RAAF and DMO environment as required.
